5 Things You Should Know About Pedro El Rapero, the 13-year-old who rocked J Balvin’s world at Latin Music Week.

J Balvin’s Superstar Q&As at Billboard Latin Music Week took a turn for the worse when a small hand in the audience went up, eager to get the Colombian singer’s attention. Wanting to see who it was, J Balvin called out to the audience and the crew quickly handed him a microphone so he could ask his question.

The bespectacled boy, who wore large, fancy glasses, spoke briefly: “How can I cooperate with you?”

“It’s easy,” J Balvin replied, surprised by the child’s outspokenness, “Just show me what you got and we’ll see.” And that’s exactly what he did well. Pedro El Rapero, a 13-year-old rapper from Venezuela, quickly jumped on stage and sat next to the “Cosa de Locos” singer as if they were old friends. Pedro El Rapero was at work, and J Balvin was in awe of the boy’s confidence.

Although his hands were shaking, Pedro El Rapero took out his cell phone and started playing one of his favorite songs. He quickly took the microphone from Balvin’s hands and started rapping, creating a show that was bound to go viral. J Balvin got up and danced. As soon as Pedro El Rapero finished spitting out some verses, Balvin bowed.

“It’s a good thing [that] this guy was not in my time, because he would have accepted me in a second,” Balvin confessed. “I love you so much, because it takes courage to not be afraid to say, ‘Hey, I want to jump on stage with you. Thanks, bro.”

After that special moment on stage, Balvin and Pedro El Rapero spoke backstage after the Q & A on Wednesday (Oct. 16) and exchanged information. Pedro even shook hands with him I’m Russiansenior vice president at Interscope.
